INDA 8 (Manifest International Drawing Annual)

Came home to find two copies of this fantastic book at my doorstep!

I am blown away by the quality and beauty of the pieces in this book and so thankful to Manifest Gallery for including my drawing among works with such magnitude.

My grandmother waited a long time to see this book in print. She suffered a stroke earlier in the year and has not been able to communicate with us since. Not being able to hear her voice and seeing her happiness makes the story of my drawing making it to this book a bittersweet one. I’m so thankful for all the events and my teachers’ love and generosity which inspired me to draw, draw, and draw.

If you are interested in purchasing the book, please visit Manifest Gallery’s Site

Artists’ information should be available shortly on the website.

– “Siri’s Infinite Loops” Pastel on paper

August is here and so is some great news in the art front!

I was very excited to have two pieces selected for Stockton Art League’s 58th National Juried Exhibition at the Haggin Museum. I did not expect to receive the news, however, that my piece, “Mother” was chosen as the first prize winner in the pastel category by juror, Dale Laitinen!

To say that I am very honored and excited about the show is a true understatement!

The opening reception is tomorrow, August 7th and below is the information:

Cannot wait to see the exhibition and fellow artist! Are you coming?!

ARC Salon 2013 – 2014

I recently found out that two of my pieces were among the finalists in the prestigious Art Renewal Center Salon. The news is extremely motivating to say the least! I have always loved painting and drawing. Even though I have chosen and maintained a full time career as a Software Trainer, I haven’t been able to allow art to become a less important part of my life. Any recognition that my work has received in the past few years has really helped validate my efforts in educating and expressing myself as an artist. I am currently working on a new body of work which will showcase a new level of freedom in expressing my thoughts while experimenting with new methods and genres.

I am appreciative of every effort made in supporting and encouraging artists to continue producing great work.

Here are the links to the two categories my works were a part of. So many amazing pieces are included in the catalogue!

Water Media on Paper

20130903-134102.jpg

When working with watercolor, I don’t try to control the medium as much as I do normally. This allows me to interact with the piece and enjoy painting more. While working on “Magnolia,” I took photos of different stages and put them together to track the evolution of the piece. The finished painting is part of Pacific Art League’s next juried exhibition titled, “Water Media on Paper.”

About the Juror:

Ronald Pratt has been a watercolor artist for over 35 years and an instructor in watercolor technique for over 20 years. He is an associate member of the National Watercolor Society, California Watercolor Association and member of several San Francisco Bay Area art groups. His award-winning paintings are displayed throughout California and included in private collections around the world. His published works include Watercolor: Seasons (Walter Foster, 2012) and The Art of Watercolor Painting (Walter Foster, 2013). (Taken from PAL’s website)

The opening reception is on Friday, September 6th, 5:30 to 8:00 pm.

Address: 227 Forest Avenue, Palo Alto, CA

Hope to see you there :)
